Josh Alexander is a Canadian teen from St. Joseph Catholic High School who gained fame for protesting against a policy allowing transgender girls to use female bathrooms. “My issue wasn’t with the individual students,” Alexander told EWTN. “I have an issue with the system that is going to encourage this form of misbehavior.”
Josh claims his parents were suspended from their job due to his actions
Josh Alexander claims that his parents, Matt and Nicole Alexander, were placed on leave by the Renfrew County District School Board due to his actions. On 7th May 2023, Josh tweeted:
“I have been informed that both my mother and father have been put on leave and removed from the classroom. My parents are under attack simply for having raised me. They couldn’t get to me so they attacked my family.”
The following day, Josh further protested his parents’ suspension. “But now they mess with my family? Pathetic tyrants,” Josh tweeted. He stated that he would bear the consequences of his actions but wouldn’t tolerate what he perceives as an attack on his family.
Matt and Nicole were placed on leave and under investigation for allegedly violating its policies on equity and inclusion. Nicole, a kindergarten teacher, was suspended after removing a Pride flag stuck on her classroom door without her permission.
She was told that she was being investigated to protect the children. Matt, a 7th- and 8th-grade teacher, was dismissed without cause. Nicole and Matt weren’t informed about the nature or duration of their suspensions.
“I just really wish it was me facing those consequences,” Josh told Media Bezirgan. “I am still fighting and that [two arrests] is not gonna discourage me. It’s just wrong that my family has to pay the price. The consequences have been fairly significant up to this point.”
Josh plans to file a human rights suit for violation of his religious freedom. “There’s a lot of people who hate me, but at the same time, I don’t really care. I did what I believe was right, what was right before God, so at the end of the day I’m happy with that,” he said.
